OVERWATCH.EARTH

About overwatch.earth

v1.10.6 · Full transparency · Part of the Tuxxin Stack

overwatch.earth is a free, real-time 3D globe that overlays 34 live global data layers on one interactive Earth — flights, ships, earthquakes, wildfires, satellites and more. It aggregates open, public real-time feeds and places them on one map; the data belongs to the agencies and communities that produce it, and every source is credited. No login; analytics are privacy-respecting and opt-in — see cookies & privacy below.

Data sources & credits

Every layer is an open, public real-time feed — fully credited, with what it shows, its update cadence and live count.

How it works

Renderer — globe.gl + three.js (desktop), MapLibre GL (mobile)
Backend — Node.js, Fastify, Redis, ClickHouse
Hosting — Cloudflare tunnel
Replay — 24h time-travel for moving layers
Retention — positions kept; analytics expire after 90 days
Privacy — no cookies until you opt in; then Google Analytics sets _ga. First-party stats stay cookieless with hashed IPs

Embed the globe

Add the live globe to your own site — it links back here:

<iframe src="https://overwatch.earth/embed" width="640" height="420" style="border:0;border-radius:12px" loading="lazy" title="overwatch.earth live globe"></iframe>

You can also focus a single layer: append ?layer=flights (or any layer slug) to the embed URL.

Cookies & privacy

No cookies are set until you choose “Start” on the globe. If you decline, you're brought to this page and nothing non-essential is stored. Everything that can be stored in your browser:

Google Analytics — loaded only after you Start. Sets first-party cookies (_ga, ~13 months) for anonymous, aggregate usage stats; declining sets none.
Cloudflare — our CDN may set a strictly-necessary security cookie (__cf_bm, ~30 min) to protect the site from bots, not for tracking.
First-party analytics — our own event pipeline (ClickHouse), cookieless: no identifier is stored in your browser and your IP is one-way hashed with a rotating secret, never kept raw.
First-party diagnosticscookieless: error/crash reports (and usage events) where your IP is one-way hashed with a rotating secret and never stored raw; a per-tab id (browser sessionStorage, not a cookie) de-duplicates views.
Your choice — remembered in localStorage (ow_consent_v1) — not a cookie, never sent anywhere.

No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, no data sales. To withdraw consent, clear this site's data in your browser settings.

The Tuxxin Stack

overwatch.earth is one of several projects built on the same stack. TiCore, the PHP micro-framework underneath them, is not listed — it is the foundation, not a product.
