This layer plots internet disruptions detected by Cloudflare Radar onto the globe, one marker per affected country. Each marker sits on the country it hits and opens an inspector with the disruption's description, start and end times, cause, scope, and a link to Cloudflare's source notes.
What makes this feed distinct is how the signal is gathered and labeled. Cloudflare sees a large share of the world's web traffic across its global edge network, so a sharp, sustained drop in requests from a country or specific network (ASN) stands out clearly. Cloudflare's team then curates each event into an annotation with a human-readable cause: government-directed shutdown, cable cut, power outage, severe weather, military action, or a technical fault. Scope can be national or narrower, such as multiple cities in a region. That curated, cause-tagged view is the difference from our IODA layer, which detects outages automatically from active probing, BGP, and a network telescope without a labeled reason.
The layer polls Cloudflare Radar every five minutes and shows events from roughly the past 28 days, marking each as active or resolved. It is one of about 29 live layers you can solo, spin, and click into on the same interactive Earth.

Cloudflare handles a large portion of global web traffic across its edge network. When requests from a country or a specific network (ASN) drop sharply and stay down, that anomaly flags a likely disruption, which Cloudflare's team then reviews and annotates.
This feed is edge-based: it reads traffic at Cloudflare's own network and adds a curated, human-labeled cause for each event. IODA (Georgia Tech / CAIDA) instead detects outages automatically from active probing, BGP, and a network telescope, without a labeled reason. Watching both gives independent corroboration.
